I-9 Employment Verification Forms
On January 31st, 2020, the office of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), formerly known as the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), recently released a revised Form I-9, dated 10/21/2019.
The new form is designed to be more user-friendly.
According to a notice published in the Federal Register, the new form must be implemented on or before 4/30/2020.
Failure to comply with I-9 requirements can result in fines up to $1,100 per violation.
Employers are responsible for the completion and retention of Forms I-9 for all employees, regardless of citizenship or national origin, hired for employment in the United States.
Additionally, employers must retain the I-9 form of each employee either for three (3) years after the date of hire or for one (1) year after employment is terminated, whichever is later. All current employees, therefore, must have I-9s on file with the employer.
Personnel Concepts offers the updated 2020 I-9 Form in packs of 10 and 25.
- Detailed, easy-to-use instruction sheet attached to each form.
- List of acceptable documents to be used for proving citizenship or immigration status.
Each pack includes thorough instructions on how to complete the form and a quick reference sheet to common I-9 mistakes.
